Selangor ( 8,000km2 ) is the most economically development state, with a population of more than four million. It has excellent infrastructure and the three major airports operate here, namely the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the Low Cost Carrier Terminal in Sepang and Terminal 3 in Subang.

Though a developed state, it has set aside a huge portion of its forest for preservation. Under the Selangor State Park Corporation Enactment 2005, the Selangor Heritage Park is established and no development allowed here. This also helps ensure water supply as three major rivers in Selangor acquire water from this park, namely the Selangor River, Langat River and Klang River.

Shah Alam is the state capital and Klang is the royal town.
